Dicker, Avnet distribute new Lenovo-Datacore software-defined storage

Lenovo and Datacore has announced a partnership to offer the Australian channel a software-defined storage solution packaged with server hardware, to be distributed via Dicker Data and Avnet.

“Together, Lenovo and DataCore have created a software storage solution that is able to harness the full potential of today's server technology and provide a high performance, cost-effective alternative to traditional storage,” said Lenovo enterprise business director Rob Makin.

The solution will bundle Lenovo x3650 platform with DataCore SANsymphony-V software, plus training. Dicker Data and Avnet will offer support and optional implementation services.

At a press event in Sydney, Lenovo alliances manager Andrew Silvers said that the vendor is well-placed in the market because it’s “purely in the business of infrastructure”.

“We don’t try to be a software company. We let our partners provide the solutions,” he said.

Silvers said that while Lenovo has forged other hyper-converged and software-defined partnerships with the likes of Nutanix and Simplivity, the global relationship with Datacore stands out because of the performance.

The Lenovo-Datacore software-defined storage solution is available now in Australia.
