Jonathan Ladd

Datacom has enjoyed a 13-percent growth in revenue to reach NZ$1.058 billion (AU$955 million) for the financial year ending in 31 March 2016.

The New Zealand company had raked in AU$885 million revenue in 2015.

Datacom in Australia and Asia had a revenue increase of 12.9 percent and the New Zealand operation increased by 13.1 percent.

Datacom has opened four new offices in the past year, including one in Melbourne and one in Taranaki, New Zealand. The company has currently 4,661 employees and operates from 29 locations across Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, the UK and the USA.

The solution provider's profit after tax was AU$24.5 million, compared to last year's AU$22.96 million.

Datacom Group chief executive Jonathan Ladd said that software and app development is growing: "We are putting a lot of effort to increase our software application business in Victoria and New South Wales."

Ladd also said that Datacom's cybersecurity practice had delivered "excellent" growth. Ladd said that later in the year Datacom would be opening a purpose-built Cyber Security Incident Response Centre (CSIRC) in Canberra.

"We’re also seeing sharp growth for cloud applications transformation services and demand for WAN, LAN and wireless networks," said Ladd.

Datacom Connect increased its revenue during the 2016 year by 60 percent with the expansion of the traditional contact centre activities.

Datacom launched its new Australia cloud network earlier this month, which connects nine data centres via major carriers. Customers now have cloud capacity that is scalable up or down by the hour.

Datacom has also been awarded several vendor partner awards throughout the year including Cisco and Microsoft, EMC's solution partner of the year and Dell's IoT solution win. In recognition of the high levels of vendor partnerships, Datacom Australia is a current CRN MVP.
