Data#3 rips out Lotus Notes from Victoria's Office of Public Prosecutions, deploys Office 365

Data#3 has scored an Office 365 deployment deal with the Victorian Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP).

The project effectively ripped out the previous Lotus Notes-based platform, which was integrated with a whole-of-government Lotus Notes-based address book.

Data#3 replaced the platform with Microsoft Exchange, while training IT staff to manage and support the new platform.

“The Data#3 response had a specific plan about implementation, and the process they would go through was clearly documented. The level of detail made Data#3 stand out above the rest,” OPP manager of IT services Bruce Stafford said.

“The consultants became part of my team, and integrated well. They worked closely to transfer knowledge to my team – the partnership between our business and Data#3 was seamless.”

Disaster recovery was also a concern that was addressed by the Office 365 deployment, while making the integration with mobile devices easier so staff can work remotely as they travel to Victoria’s courts each day.

Stafford said since transitioning, the IT team no longer spends time on creating workarounds on the Lotus platform, with the time saved being invested in more innovation-based projects.

“We can now divert our attention to several technology projects designed to make our users’ lives easier,” Stafford said. “We are trialing a paperless workplace – we used to have volumes and volumes of paper, but now staff are getting documents in electronic format.”

“This is a fantastic example of the great skills of the Data#3 team. Helping customers to improve the way they work and gain more productivity is our core strength,” Data#3 chief executive Laurence Baynham said.

“On behalf of the Data#3 team, we look forward to working with the OPP on their future transformation projects.”
