Cyber insurance providr Coalition has appointed Connor McKay as its new head of business development for Australia to lead the company’s distribution strategy in the country.
McKay has been with Coalition Australia since 2023, previously serving as national development manager. Before joining Coalition, McKay held business development and underwriting roles at Emergence Insurance and NM Insurance.
The addition of this role builds on local business development hires in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney.
The move towards a state-based distribution model aims to enable Coalition to fostering deeper relationships with brokers and clients through localised knowledge and support, as well as improve service delivery by providing more tailored solutions and faster response times through dedicated state teams.
Coalition Australia GM Sam Weaver said the company's stronger local presence means it can truly understand and meet the unique needs of each local Australian market.
"We're incredibly proud of our team that offers complete support, and with Connor leading the way, I'm excited to continue boosting cyber resilience for Australian organisations through our Active Insurance solutions," said Weaver.
McKay said the company has built a strong foundation since launching in Australia, now serving more than 5,000 customers and working with more than 1,000 quoting brokers.
"I look forward to working even more closely with our regional business development leads, along with all our broker partners, to bring Active Insurance to even more businesses across the country."
Since launching in November 2023, Coalition Australia has expanded its team to 22 local professionals, more than doubling its size in the last year.
