Security vendor CipherTrust has signed Firewall Systems as its first Australian distributor since setting up here late last year.
Bob Jones, the recently appointed country manager at CipherTrust said in searching for a partner, the company was looking for a small, niche security distributor. Firewall Systems fitted the bill.
In setting up shop in Australia, Jones said CipherTrust believed many organisations were unnecessarily suffering from security threats stemming from their messaging systems.
“Most security threats that organisations are suffering [come from messaging systems]. Messaging is the transport mechanism that delivers them [security threats],” he said.
Nick Verykios, marketing director at Firewall Systems said in a statement that
integrators, outsourcers and resellers had told the distributor that they wanted to see CipherTrust products offered locally.
Jones said he had known Firewall boss Scott Frew and marketing director Nick Verykios since first opening Packeteer’s Australian operations in 1998.
Packeteer’s first distributor was LAN Systems, a company that was formerly owned by Frew before he sold it to the Westcon Group in 2001.
CipherTrust’s flagship products are sold under the “Iron” moniker. IronMail is a network appliance that protects email systems from inbound and outbound security threats; while the IronIM is a gateway security product for email and instant messaging.
The company also markets IronNet, outbound compliance software for email, messaging, file transfer, WebMail and other HTTP and FTP-based activity.
It’s Radar product is a web-based annual subscription service that provides real-time monitoring and alerts on how phishing attacks are propagating and infected zombie PCs on a network.
