Cellnet cuts ties with Jabra

ASX-listed distributor Cellnet has terminated its relationship with mobile headset vendor, Jabra.

The Queensland-based distie claimed Jabra was inconsistent in providing sufficient stock of key product lines.

Stuart Smith, CEO for the Cellnet Group said this resulted in the distie being unable to satisfy their customers expectations

"Our customers plan product ranges months in advance and include catalogues with products which we need to ensure are supplied," he said.

"Jabra has not been able to meet both our requirements nor those of our customers and we have unfortunately had to terminate this relationship."

Both companies are in talks to ensure a transition period for channel partners.

"Customers have already managed to secure alternative products to at least the same standard," said Smith.

According to Smith the termination was "action taken as a last resort" and the distie's focus on customer service and reliable product offering didn't accommodate "inconsistent sporadic supply over prolonged periods of time".

Cellnet recently added new products to its Bluetooth line-up and will be making further additions in coming weeks, Smith said.

"We are confident that we have the product set that will ensure Cellnet can focus on providing high levels of service and product fulfilment to its partners."

Jabra's Mobile Division's media spokeswoman told CRN it will respond to the claims once it has reviewed the announcement with management.

The situation was currently "under investigation", she said.
