The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) has tapped Canberra-based managed services provider OPC IT to develop an online tool that supports small business owners.

The tool, called My Business Health, provides information and resources for small business owners through a subsite within ABSFEO’s website. Some content include financial advice, staffing, marketing tools and health and wellbeing resources.

The site officially launched yesterday at a Canberra-based boutique cocktail-maker Altina Drinks, with Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business Senator Michaelia Cash in attendance alongside ABSFEO Ombudsman Kate Carnell.

“Many small and family business owners may not be aware that their everyday worries – be it cash flow, staff related concerns or paying suppliers – can actually cause high levels of psychological distress. That can have a serious impact on both mental and physical health,” Carnell said.

“My Business Health provides useful tips to help small business owners with some of the issues that go hand-in-hand with running a small or family business.”

OPC aimed to make a simple-to-use tool that allows business owners to browse through information instead of going through several pages of policy documents. Drupal was used to build the site.

ABSFEO said the site was also developed in consultation with EveryMind and Beyond Blue in addition to a number of small businesses.

The site comes after other OPC government contract wins, such as its expenses tracking tool for Australia’s parliamentarians and their staff, and migration of the Department of Communications and the Arts ministers' website to govCMS.
