SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Toshiba Corp said on Friday that a California court has granted the company a new trial on more than US$465 million in damages a jury had previously awarded Lexar Media Inc.
A jury found Toshiba guilty of breach of fiduciary duty and theft of trade secrets in March.
"We are very pleased that the court has granted a new trial, vacating what we considered to be an erroneous verdict, and we look forward to trying these issues in a new trial," the company said in a statement.
Eric Whitaker, Lexar's general counsel, said in a statement issued by Lexar: "We are confident that another jury will award us the damages we are entitled to recover".
