Two years since it first launched its products in Australia, Romanian-based anti-virus vendor BitDefender is now eyeing off the local retail market and is eager to have its products displayed on the shelves of major chain stores.
The vendor first came to local attention when it debut its products at the 2005 CeBit exhibition held in Sydney. Since then the vendor has also signed on Victorian-based distributor NetFreighters.
Mihai Rusescu regional operations manager Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa said at the moment NetFreighters is helping the vendor to get its products out to the SMB market.
“While we are becoming visible to SMB companies in Australia, we want a broader push through retail stores. We are in discussion with a couple of distributors who have experience and the right connection with this sector of the market,” he said.
Rusescu said BitDefender will take on the likes of Symantec, Trend Micro and McAfee in the retail sector.
The anti-virus vendor was founded in the 1990s by a Romanian husband and wife mathematician team.
