AWS brings three more services to Sydney

Amazon Web Services has launched a number of new services in its Sydney region.

One is Amazon Textract, a service that automatically extracts text and data from scanned documents. The company claims the service “goes beyond” simple optical character recognition (OCR) to work.

AWS said users can quickly automate document workflows, so they can process millions of document pages in hours. Users can also create smart search indexes, build automated approval workflows, and maintain compliance better through document archival rules.

Another is neural text-to-speech voices for Amazon Polly, a service that turns text into lifelike speech.

The voices promise “groundbreaking” improvements in speech quality through “a new machine learning approach”, to make the voice more lifelike compared to Polly’s standard text-to-speech service.

Finally AWS’ Security Token Service now supports AWS PrivateLink in Australia, as well as 12 other regions.

Security Token Service enables users to request temporary, limited-privilege credentials to access their AWS resources. PrivateLink lets users route data between Amazon Virtual Private Cloud and Security Token Service within AWS.
