AVG updates reseller Licence Renewal Reminder

The service is delivered via weekly e-mails and through AVG's (A/NZ) updated Reseller Centre.

Resellers can renew their customer's licence for one or two years any time prior to expiry.

To get details of the licences coming up for renewal, parnters have to log into the Reseller Centre.

James Caldwell, channel manager AVG A/NZ said the weekly e-mail advises partners of any customers whose licences will expire within the next 60 days.

He said it encourages resellers to contact their customers to discuss their security needs, as well as any other technology issues.

"In my time here and working with the channel there were a few things we identified that we hadn't been doing," said Caldwell.

"At the end of last year we launched the new reseller portal online and the second stage is the renewal reminder notifications.

"Previously, resellers could see the reminders on the portal but this is more proactive."

Caldwell said the reminder service was updated following reseller feedback and has been in operation for three weeks.

"Resellers in the IT sector are very much online and use email as one of their main forms of communication. Based on that, we needed a system where they have the tools to sell, support, and service their AVG clients with technical updates and renewal notifications.

"We used to have all this information online and there were reminders online when a customer's licence was due for expiry but it wasn't really getting out there or people weren't checking it as often as they should. We believe this is the way to move forward."

AVG resellers receive full margin on the renewal sale and most sell a range of products and services in addition to AVG security software.

"Contacting customers to renew their AVG protection is a great opportunity for resellers to cross-sell or up-sell products and related services to their customers," added Caldwell.

Revati Sangoski of Lotus Computers said the renewal service is invaluable to them with their hundreds of customers and the reminder e-mails help them to keep using the AVG products.

Kaveh Haddadi, Southern IT Consulting's Dealer Principal said 'the end result is greater customer retention, improved revenues and more effective customer management, which has a flow-on effect for our other business services'.
