AVG grows reseller numbers by 33 percent
Peter Cameron, managing director of AVG A/NZ, said revenue from the AVG reseller channel was up 41 percent over the same period last year. Cameron told CRN there were no plans to stop signing on more resellers.

“AVG now enjoys much greater brand awareness, combined with the new AVG 8.0 product releases, our continued focus on extending our footprint into the SMB sector, and consumer acceptance of the AVG commitment to security, are all factors in the feedback we receive as new resellers come onboard,” said Cameron.

He told CRN that AVG has no current plans to limit reseller numbers. “In fact we are currently looking to re-package our AVG Reseller Program so as to be even better able to recruit successful resellers in the future. We plan on outlining these changes in the coming months,” he said.

Resellers included within the AVG Reseller Program range from local computer retailers and small system builders, to IT consultants and large service providers. However, it is the resellers targeting the SMB sector that we see having a lot of success of late, claimed Cameron.

“AVGs resellers in the SMB space are appreciating this and reaping the rewards available,” he said. “However, AVG is also seeing increased growth in sales to resellers in the home and small office space. Certainly this is being spurred on by the release of the new AVG 8.0 product range.”

According to Cameron, many existing AVG customers are using the change from AVG 7.5 to AVG 8.0 as an opportunity to purchase an upgrade to AVG Internet Security 8.0 instead of simply switching for free to the AVG 8.0 version of their current AVG 7.5 solution.

AVG have taken on new staff and have restructured its internal channel sales team to cope with the growing number of resellers , he said.
