Australian Women in Security Network launches mentoring program

The Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) has launched a mentoring program, which it says is the first of its kind in the country.

It is aimed at both experienced security professionals, and those starting their careers.

The mentoring program is developed in partnership with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) agency which is a sponsor, and OK RDY in Canberra and its artificial intelligence driven match-making tool.

AWSN said their mentorship platform offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, to share knowledge and to foster growth.

Training resources, networking and ongoing support will be provided, and the program is designed to provide mentors and mentees with personalised connections based on values, interests and experience.

AWSN will hold a webinar on October 16 for the program, at 12.30 pm AEST.

The next intake is on October 28 with interested parties asked to become AWSN members.

AWSN was set up in 2015 to connect women, who often feel isolated in organisations and tertiary education institutions.

The not-for-profit assocation and network aims to educate women and girls on security, noting that despite making up for half of Australia's population, the proportion working in security is low at just 17 per cent.
