An Australian cloud application startup is opening a US office and has started signing local resellers, following backing from the former managing director of Microsoft ANZ.
Sydney-based Maestrano has signed 35 resellers since launching its channel program in the last eight weeks.
The chase for partners follows investment earlier this year by Gary Jackson, a former Microsoft ANZ managing director. Jackson is also the former Australian managing director of Cisco and Aruba Networks' current vice president for Asia Pacific Japan.
Another investor and Maestrano's chairman is Ian Buddery, the founder of eServGlobal.
Maestrano aggregates open source cloud applications into a "one stop shop" designed and priced to attract small business customers. Users can pay monthly or by the hour, with pricing starting at 14 cents per app per hour, or $27.98 per app per month.
The platform launched in January this year and has more than 1,000 customers.
CEO Stephane Ibos said that the bulk of the company's resellers are located in the US and Australia. Local resellers include Polyglot Group, Alchemy Equities, Nulosoft and Carnac Group.
Maestrano is also opening a sales office in the US where Ibos is aiming to have 50 partners by the end of the year.
