Dimension Data has secured an agreement with Codan, a South Australia-based manufacturer of radio communications, metal detection and mining technology.
Dimension Data will help the 500-staff company with its network and security infrastructure, including transitioning Codan into Dimension Data's cloud service, as well as providing database support and overarching service management.
Dimension Data's cloud "is the primary solution implemented as part of the contract", according to the giant service provider.
Its public compute-as-a-service platform is based around Cisco, EMC and VMWare.
Dimension Data currently has seven public data centres throughout the world. Chief executive Rodd Cunico said the company's scale would help support Codan as it continued to expand.
"Codan's growth strategy has been driven by significant organic growth and by acquisition and as new companies are acquired, the support provided by Dimension Data will enable Codan to scale up within an extremely short timeframe."

Codan executive general manager Allan Morichaud said Dimension Data's global presence clinched the contract.
"They have offices in cities and regions where we have offices, which makes it easier to provide around the clock support," Morichaud told CRN.
Codan was already outsourcing its IT environment to "an SA data centre service provider"; neither Codan nor DiData would disclose the name of the incumbent.
The contract with Dimension Data runs for four years. Neither party would disclose its value.
Codan is headquartered in Adelaide and generated revenue of $244.3 million for FY13.
