Featuring the latest WiFi 802.11n wireless standard, connectivity is eight times faster than previous 802.11b/g wireless, enabling users to download a 30 minute video in 44 seconds.
The sleek nettop is one litre in size. It can be mounted to standard LCD displays and sports touch sensor buttons and an ASUS thermal solution which integrates heat with the AI fan – allowing quiet (26db) computing.
The Eee Box is an energy-efficient performer reducing power consumption by up to 90 percent. It utilises Green Design and is made with earth-friendly materials for reduced CO2 emissions.
Product manager Joshua Carr said: "The Eee Box conforms to stringent Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) standards.
"It does the job of accessing the internet very easily at low cost. It is a very compact system, can boot up in five seconds, and was designed with a zero footprint in mind," Carr added.
Designed for heavy web and Voice over IP (VoIP) users, the Eee Box also features Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).
The Eee PC box will be available through computer resellers and selected retail outlets in the next month with a recommended retail price of $429 inc GST.
Its distributors are Ingram Micro, Synnex, Altech, Bluechip Infotech and Cellnet.
