MacWorld have reported that a 23 year old American man has managed to scam Apple out of 9,000 iPod shuffles - yes 9,000 iPods; quite a few more than your typical Nigerian eBay scammer.
Nicholas Arthur Woodhams of Michigan, managed to pull off the brazen scheme by somehow 'guessing' the valid serial numbers of Apple iPod shuffles under warranty and requesting Apple that he be sent replacement models for repair.
With more than a few prepaid visa gift cards at his disposal and a dummy mailbox for delivery, the scammer was able to pull wool over Apple's eyes and sell each unit for $30 less than retail. 8999 models later and you'd think that maybe, just maybe, Apple would have caught on?
