Apple premium resellers to stock iPad

Apple premium resellers will sell the Apple iPad on May 28 along with Apple's online and retail stores, partners have confirmed.

Premium resellers Mac1, My Mac, Mac Worx, Pentagon Digital, MacCentre have confirmed with CRN that they will sell the iPad from May 28 - as long as the stock arrives.

The Mac Shop, Next Byte, Computers Now, Digital Appeal and Beyond the Box declined to comment, but as premium resellers it is likely they will stock the device on its release date.

Apple, Friday said the iPad will be available on May 28 through the Apple Store online, Apple's retail stores and select Apple authorised resellers.

An Apple spokesperson was unable to confirm with CRN which authorised resellers would stock the iPad.

Apple authorised reseller Ted Markstein, owner of Userland Australia in Katoomba, NSW, said he hadn't been told whether he will be stocking the iPad.

"We know what's in the press," he said.

Moreover, Apple is yet to confirm an estimated time of arrival with Simms International, distributor to Apple's tier 2 resellers, the company confirmed.

Gabriel Kamkindji, Apple product manager for Simms, blamed supply shortages.

"Following what's going on in the States there seems to be major issues around supply.

"When that lifts, generally, I think there will be no problem with us doing it," he said.

Telstra and Optus have confirmed data prices for the 3G versions.
