Altech opens Perth office

Altech Computers is opening an office in Perth suburb Osborne on 8 April, in response to reseller demand, the company said.

Safa Joumaa, national marketing manager at Altech, said the 1200m2 Perth office would complete the set for the distributor, which already had offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

“It’s the Silicon Valley of Western Australia, where all the IT people are,” he said. “It took us about four months [to find a spot].”

Next move would be to New Zealand, he said.

“I don’t think we’ll do South Australia because Melbourne can service that, and Tasmania. And Brisbane can service the Northern Territory,” Joumaa said.

He said resellers had clamoured for Altech to open in Perth. A local office was a chance to improve support and cut costs for Altech’s 300 resellers, he added.

“I’d say we can do about 60 percent growth in the first year,” he said.

About five staff would work in Perth initially. A full Perth stable, including 12 to 15 staff, could take about 1200 resellers spread right across Western Australia, he suggested.

“We have a lot of local customers buying from us there,” Joumaa said.

All Altech products were doing well in Western Australia, he claimed, but Abit, Corsair and Antech were standouts.

“We are grateful to have customers that are so loyal that they continued to buy from us and pay for freight from Sydney to Perth instead of going to the multitude of other distributors that have their offices there,” Joumaa added.

Altech was planning an opening function for a day yet to be decided, in about six months, he said.
