Acision offers mobile phone operators location-based software
Seeker Wireless location-based detection software enables the delivery of voice and data services based on real-time subscriber location.

Acision’s vice president of Australia and New Zealand, Bill Dekker told CRN, HomeZone enables accurate and reliable zone-based charging, allowing mobile operators to attack the fixed line telephony market with competitive tariffs, while protecting existing revenue streams. With HomeZone any service, including voice and data, can be rated at a different tariff.

“One of the problems mobile phone operators face with billing is the inability to be flexible with rates. With this software they can locate if the caller is using their phone from home or out and about and then charge them rates according to where the end user is calling from,” said Dekker.

According to Dekker, Acision’s HomeZone supports an operator’s existing handset choice by using a SIM-based applet to ensure the accurate identification of the user’s charging location. The zone status is communicated to both the service provider and the user, enabling them to use the service with confidence.

He told CRN the deal between Acision and Seeker Wireless was signed at The Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona, between the 11th and 14th of February.

“The deal was signed by Acision’s head office and the impact on the Australian market is yet to be determined. However location-based software can be used by mobile phone operators and also where location-based information is needed. For example, bush fires and traffic reports,” he said. “The product is ready now for Australian users, we can put a proposition on the table now, although pricing can be worked out along the deal.”
