Best: Huawei Ascend Mate
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei unveiled its new flagship smartphone; the Ascend Mate. The mammoth 6.1in device pushes the 'phablet' concept to the limit. It comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU and runs Android Jelly Bean. Other product highlights include and a long-lasting 4050mAh battery.
The phone/tablet hybrid form-factor was very much in evidence at CES 2013, with Samsung, Sony, ZTE, Lenovo, Vizio and Kogan showing off new models. According to financial services firm Barclays, the 'phablet' market will quadruple in value over the next three years to $US135 billion ($A128.4 billion).
