Services provider Azzurri Communications can boast one of the world's largest magazine companies as a client, after bumping out an incumbent provider and rolling out a new network in Australia for Bauer Media.

Technology and services: Alcatel-Lucent telephony-as-as-service

UXC Connect landed a key win for its Alcatel-Lucent telephony-as-as-service (ITaaS) platform with the Accor Asia Pacific hotel chain. The iTaaS platform was deployed at the 311-room Ibis Adelaide, a $65 million development that opened its doors in July this year and is described as the "new face of economy hotels".

Data#3 will provide infrastructure-as-a-service to oil and gas project engineering firm WorleyParsons. The project will support WorleyParsons' use of Bentley Project Wise, a collaborative engineering application. The system will allow WorleyParsons and its client to logon simultaneously and change engineering specifications.

The Frame Group won a three-year contract to manage Melbourne Airport’s IT facilities, as the airport undergoes its biggest upgrade in 40 years. Frame will support and manage Melbourne Airport’s two onsite data centres, up to 90 communications rooms and all active network infrastructure.

Amcom has won a 13,000-user rollout of Cisco's Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) for the University of Melbourne – the largest public sector rollout of the product in the country, according to Cisco. The win is Amcom's largest single UC contract, as well as its first major deployment in higher education after signing a partnership with academic network provider AARNet in May.

The local arm of the US$1.35 billion global integrator Logicalis has migrated Toyota Australia's backup to a pay-by-usage cloud model. Logicalis has been promoting backups to the cloud with a "true pay-by-usage" charging model as an economical way to cater for data growth.

Infosys is migrating Victorian Catholic schools to the Amazon Web Services cloud, in a project that covers 200,000 students in almost 500 institutions. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria announced today that its new "school-administration-as-a-service" platform will be hosted in Australia by AWS.

Sydney-based solutions provider BEarena has deployed both Nutanix infrastructure and mobile service management software for Hyundai. BEarena's Darren Ashley said: " It was a virtual desktop implementation. We were looking for a technology that would allow us to automate the way in which users’ profiles and data were dealt with in that platform and deliver the maximum flexibility to Hyundai in the VDI implementation."

iiNet won a deal to install around 1000 Cisco access points across Victoria as part of a deal with the state government to roll out a free wi-fi network. The $6.7 million deal will see the ISP install access points in Melbourne, Ballarat and Bendigo CBDs.
