Carly Fiorina -HP
Another poor decision by HP’s board, Fiorina held the title of chief executive from 1999-2005. During her tenure, HP bought Compaq, a PC industry high-flier that had previous digested several other industry stalwarts, including the storied Digital Equipment Corporation.
Fiorina oversaw HO losing over half its value, albeit during the GFC.
She also oversaw the spin-off of the company’s technical systems division, which became known as Agilent, and botched an attempted $US14 billion take over of PwC’s technology services arm.
Ultimately, a stoush with the board over company direction and performance saw Fiorina on the out.
