Melbourne Data Centre's key selling point is its central location, says director Mark Eckert. The data centre is on level 15, 530 Collins Street in Melbourne, the former home of the ASX data centre. At the time, ANZ was the building's anchor tenant, taking up around 65 percent of the space.
"A lot of clients, believe it or not, want to have the run equipment close to where they are. A lot of our clients are in the Melbourne CBD: they don’t need to get a cab out to the suburbs. That is our niche. There are a lot of data centres around Melbourne. We thought we would compete with them, but we don’t. If we had built our centres next to them, there would be nothing to differentiate us," says Eckert.
