April Fool's Day is a strange time in the tech world.
For tech companies, it's an opportunity for a bit of viral marketing or just an excuse for a well-placed joke. Some faux product announcements even end up coming to life, such as April 1st 2018 when Google Maps was transformed into a real-life game of 'Where's Wally?'
But for CRN it means a fake product announcements flooding our inbox. Some are hilarious, others are less so.
We try to join the party each year, but we know the best pranks are self-referential. And to be honest this year we just ran out of time to write a good gag about ourselves (sorry, there's a lot of channel that needs covering!)
We did, however have some fun in the office with the Jim's Meme Generator.
If you somehow forgot, Jim's Group (best known for the Jim's Mowing franchisee business) has adapted to nearly 50 different services, covering everything from dog washing to interior design. Jim's even opened up a telco business in 2015.
So we envisioned what it would look like if Jim's adopted any of the tech buzzwords of the past few years into a new franchise. Reckon any of these business ideas have legs?
