What backup and disaster solutions do you deploy?

We use a number of DR technologies that are suitable to our customers’ environments but typically we stay across the following technologies: VMware, AWS, Veeam and Kaseya.

When did your company first get involved in backup and disaster recovery?

We have been doing DR for clients since 2004, when the company started. Back then, we used traditional hot spare equipment with open source tools but with the evolution of technology we have incorporated cloud technologies and much more advanced on-premise replication technologies.

What are your backup and DR credentials?

We hold certifications in VMware, Veeam, AWS and Kaseya.

Who are your main distributors for backup and DR?

The main distributors we use for DR are Avnet, Dicker Data and Synnex.

Have you heard about any cool backup and DR tech recently?

We have discussed a couple of interesting solutions out there but one that stands out at this stage are the solutions from Hitachi Data Systems.

Can you tell us about a recent backup and DR project?

We are implementing a solution utilising VMware Site Recovery, Veeam Backup and Replication Enterprise for VMware and incorporating it all into our RMM platform (Kaseya) for real-time monitoring and then we integrate it into our PSA platform (ConnectWise) for 24/7 incident management and support by our network operations centre.

What is driving customers’ backup and DR projects?

Risk management, due to security breaches and unforeseen outages that will disturb their normal business operation. We often come across new clients that hold back in investing in this type of solution, and when an incident of that kind does take place they realise how severely their business was impacted.
