Which PC solutions do you deploy?

We sell HP ProBook laptops, Apple MacBook Air/Pro/Retina, Leader corporate desktops and Apple iPads. We sometimes tailor a solution to requirements that demand a niche model. Such requirements might be a specific form factor, high-end compute, touchscreen etc.

When did your company first get involved in PCs?

We started in 2008.

What are your PC credentials?

We view IT in a holistic way and the end-user devices (PCs) are only a subset of a strategy or solution. Procuring and providing these devices involves more than just an understanding of a vendor portfolio, a Desktop OS certification or CompTIA course. It boils down to effective requirements analysis and we rely on a combination of effective vendor communication and internal training to achieve this.

Who are your main PC distributors?

Avnet, Leader, Dicker Data, Ingram Micro and Synnex.

Any cool or interesting recent PC technology is occupying your thoughts?

Touchscreens are starting to get really good and now we are seeing a user experience of the same quality as a high-end graphics tablet. But it's not the device itself that's cool, it’s how it is used. We need to see killer apps for the new wave of technology. Microsoft and Apple are working hard on maintaining a consistent user experience across multiple devices and environments that encourage collaboration. The cool factor comes when you consider software, hardware and professional development to ensure that the solution provides the greatest possible benefit to the end user.

Can you tell us about a recent PC deployment you have done?

Plenty but we have not gone through the approval process to discuss our current projects.

What is driving customers’ PC projects?

Quite simply, customer requirements. Simply be clear that direction should come from within (the customer business). Define direction internally and then find the most applicable solution to achieve that direction. Yes, there is a requirement to ensure that the customer is aware of new technical possibilities but that is why we see ourselves in the role of a trusted adviser. We work with the customer to work out the strategy.

PCs are… ?

PCs are becoming less relevant. Applications are where it’s at.
