With Outcomex national sales manager Michael van Zoggel
What networking brands and services do you specialise in?
Cisco Systems and other vendors who provide complementary solutions within Cisco-validated architectures (VMware, F5, NetApp, etc.).
When did your company first get involved in this area?
Our first projects rolled out in 2006, with the first full lifecycle solution (architecture, implementation, full managed services and decommission) in 2007. At the time, the company was called Uplinx, but we rebranded to Outcomex in December 2016.
What are your networking credentials?
Our Cisco certifications include advanced collaboration architecture specialisation, advanced core and WAN specialisation, advanced data centre architecture specialisation, advanced enterprise networks architecture specialisation, and advanced IoT – connected safety and security specialisation.
Which distributor do you use for networking?
Outcomex holds relationships with all major distributors in Australia, but primarily utilises Dicker Data for the procurement of equipment.
Have you heard about any cool developments in the networking space recently?
Next-generation SDN is really interesting and gaining momentum across core, campus, wireless and security. There has been huge movement in the PXGrid and Trustsec space, as well as Tetration and other algorithm-based analytics platforms. This is the future of what we provide to the market. Also, full management of networks from the core through to the edge and WAN services is propelling our managed services business forward at a rate of knots.
Can you tell us about a recent deployment you have done?
Full ACI, UCS, security and software management and orchestration for ServiceNSW across the GovDC sites in NSW. It was a fantastic project wherein the customer’s vision has been met by our team of extraordinary engineering resources. There were tight timeframes and a heavy workload – exciting stuff!
What is driving customers’ networking projects?
Convergence of services, visibility, analytics and control. It’s all about the ‘above the switch’ value. This is an area where Cisco excels and where we have tangible and demonstrable experience in delivering successful outcomes.
Networking is…?
Critical to a connected world – whether wired, wireless, IoT, cloud or WAN. Getting the underlying networking right is the key to everything else being delivered successfully.
