Tell us about your data centre offering.
Sultana: Logicalis offers enterprise-grade dedicated and shared data-centre offerings, with client data hosted and protected in both NSW and VIC. We partner with NextDC.
What managed services are being provided from these data centres?
Sultana: Logicalis provides a range of managed services from 24x7 managed infrastructure – both customer-owned and Logicalis-owned – including Windows, Unix and Linux operating systems through to our backup-as-a-service offering.
What technology is essential to your managed services and data centre mix?
Sultana: We utilise Cisco, NetApp, EMC and Microsoft.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
Sultana: Logicalis has been a data-centre integrator for over five years. We extended our data-centre portfolio within the last 24 months with the development of the Logicalis cloud.
Heard about any cool data centre technology lately?
Sultana: We are employing service-defined network technology within the Logicalis Cloud. This enables us to deliver service-provider-grade LAN and security services. We are currently evaluating storage-defined network technology.
Can you tell us about a recent customer project?
Sultana: We recently completed the relocation of a customer’s full data centre to the Logicalis Cloud. This involved migrating more than 100 virtual machines from the customer’s ageing in-house infrastructure to Logicalis. The project took approximately nine months for full migration.
What is driving customers towards data centre services?
Sultana: Customers are realising it is no longer a simple process to get funding for non-core activities. Running a data centre, providing power, real estate and environmentals are a non-core activity for the majority of businesses.
Data centres are…?
Sultana: Expensive, risky and a liability for most businesses to have in-house. The economics just don’t stack up.
