Customers still hope to fly under radar of cyberattacks: Rodin

With general manager Aaron Jacobs.

What security products and attached services do you specialise in?

Rodin specialises in the Sophos suite of security products, using endpoint, server and network products to ensure our customers are safe from threats. As a managed services provider, clients outsource their security requirements to us along with other – and often all – components of managing their IT infrastructure.

When did your company first get involved in this area?

We have been providing managed services for 25 years, with a strong focus on security since 2013.

What are your security credentials?

Across our staff we have a number of various vendor security certifications. With 25 years’ experience managing hundreds of networks and thousands of endpoints, we have now focused our team with Sophos architect certifications to align with our security offerings.

Which distributors do you use?

We are using Arrow ECS for our Sophos products.

Heard about any cool development in the security space recently?

Synchronised Security, where endpoints and firewalls communicate to deliver enhanced security and visibility, is great technology that improves the detection and response to security incidents. Recently, I was introduced to Sophos’ Project Darwin, which will take Synchronised Security to a level we have not seen before.

Can you tell us about a recent security deployment you have done?

We were approached to review different security aspects of the customer’s network. While they thought they were protected, they had no visibility into their network. Through a discovery process we identified what was actually running on their network and the results were very alarming to them.

What is driving customers’ security strategies?

Awareness. Customers still feel that they will not be subject to an attack as they are not worthy of being a target. As more attacks make their way to the media and more people understand how they can be impacted by these attacks, security becomes a higher priority.

Security is…?

Constantly evolving and the most important item that needs to be addressed across any platform.
