BMC recruits former Software AG Aussie boss, forces chain reaction

BMC Software has recruited its new country manager for Australia and New Zealand from German giant Software AG, with the latter consequently also naming a new local head.

Greg Taylor, who was formerly the Australia country manager for Software AG, started in the equivalent role at BMC this week. Taylor also boasts a 15-year stint at Oracle in his credentials.

"We are very pleased to hear about Greg’s new role and wish him all the best for the future," said Stephen Keys, Software AG COO for Asia-Pacific and Japan, Middle East and Turkey. "We greatly appreciate Greg’s contribution to Software AG during his time with the company."

Taylor's departure in July has led to Software AG promoting James Wooster from the UK to fill the vice president of Australia and New Zealand post. Keys told CRN that Wooster, currently senior VP of Industry Solutions, will start in the southern hemisphere on 1 January.

BMC Software has also internally anointed Will McDonald as sales specialist manager, a new position for the company. McDonald was CA Technologies' state director immediately before joining BMC in 2009, after stints at EMC, Lucent and IBM Rational.

BMC made headlines locally in February for signing Macquarie Telecom as its software-as-a-service hosting provider for its helpdesk tool. The vendor is best known for its service management, monitoring and helpdesk applications and employs about 6000 staff globally.

Software AG is a software vendor listed on the Franfurt Stock Exchange with 4600 employees spread across 70 countries. The firm posted $1.46 billion of revenues in 2013.
