Dropbox appoints ANZ boss
Charlie Wood

Former Salesforce executive Charlie Wood has been appointed Dropbox's new head of Australia and New Zealand.

"I look forward to working with the team in Australia and New Zealand to cement our position as the best personal and enterprise cloud storage provider in the market," said Wood.

The appointment of Wood adds to a busy period in Australia for the file storage provider. Earlier this year the file storage provider opened its first regional office in Sydney and launched an Australian channel programme, boasting "15-25 percent" margins for partners.

The company is seeking to boost business usage in Australia and New Zealand.

"Australia is a key focus for Dropbox. It is already one of our top-performing countries on a per-capita basis, with a strong base of regional customers and partners," said Dropbox's chief operating officer Dennis Woodside.

"We are delighted to have Charlie on board to help us accelerate our presence, build and nurture customer relationships, and grow the existing team."

Wood will report directly to Woodside. The new regional boss was formerly Asia Pacific area vice president for Salesforce Marketing Cloud. A statement from Dropbox also said that Wood had "built two successful start-ups in the enterprise social media space", including Social2CRM in 2009.

Dropbox competes with other cloud file managers like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and AWS Zocalo. All the vendors in this field have been dropping prices in recent times in an effort to increase market share. Last month, Dropbox matched Google Drive by releasing a $10 per month Pro plan.
