Sydney reseller wins over car giant Hyundai

Sydney-based solutions provider BEarena has deployed mobile service management software for Hyundai, just as the reseller was appointed an official Australian reseller for RES Software.

"BEarena came in to deploy an end-to-end solution – dealing with both infrastructure and VMware Horizon; with connections from number of different devices – iPads, desktops and mobiles," BEarena managing director Darren Ashley told CRN.

He said the car manufacturer required a mobility solution to supplement the VMware Horizon VDI service that could deliver Hyundai's "requirements around user profiles".

"We piloted a couple of different options and RES IT Store met Hyundai's unique requirements," Ashley said. "So with RES Software we put together a build which is now live in Hyundai."

Hyundai's IT infrastructure assistant manager, Kawa Farid, said: "By implementing RES workspace Software it has given our users the ability to have a secure follow me desktop experience from their virtual or physical desktops."

Ashley said the successful outcome from a backup project in early 2013 had prompted the customer to invite BEarena back for more work.

"For this project we started with Hyundai around August," Ashley told CRN. "We spent three months refining the solutions and in October we started transitioning the infrastructure."

Two staff from BEarena were involved in the Hyundai VDI project.

RES Software regional director Michael McGrath said the vendor aimed for "a small number" of partners to ensure they are "well managed, well trained and backed up by a world class support offering".

BEarena is working on "a number of different projects with Hyundai", according to Ashley. "We are approaching 50 percent completion, and by the end of July we'll be well advanced and nearing 100 percent."

Hyundai Motor Company is a South Korean manufacturer with close to 100,000 employees worldwide. The company has been present in the Australian market since the 1980s.

VMware specialist reseller BEarena is located in downtown Sydney and was born out of UK distributor DCRH. RES Software is a global provider of service management tools with 200 employees and claims to have deployments in 27 countries.
