Dicker Data is strengthening its range of ancillary cloud products via a distribution deal with Schneider Electric.

Under the agreement, Dicker Data will distribute a range of APC by Schneider Electric power and UPS products designed to aid SMBs in their transition to the cloud.

The products include APC by Schneider's SurgeArrest, Back-UPS, Smart-UPS and Symmetra for server, storage and networking applications.

Schneider Electric vice president Paul Tyrer said the increased adoption of cloud computing in the SMB space presents new opportunities for channel partners.

“With the increased adoption of cloud computing in the SMB market, businesses are moving more and more of their data and applications off-site. Protecting the network connection to the cloud has now become business critical, which presents expanded opportunities to our channel partners."

The deal chimes with a strategy announced in Dicker Data's most recent financial results, where it pointed to data centre and cloud as areas of increased focus for the future.

Chief executive David Dicker said the new product range would help increase "the profitability of our reseller partners".

Dicker Data has been recruiting vendors who service SMB needs. In August the distributor added Tandberg Data's storage products to its portfolio, including its BizNas range of devices.
