Fujitsu scores four-year WA Health data centre deal
Fujitsu gave WA Health's IT a shot in the arm.

Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand signed a four-year deal to provide data centre and managed services to Western Australia’s public health system, WA Health.

It said the contract that was open to extension was the result of 18 months planning and would build on the InfoHealth Alliance, a 10-year contract bringing together the Japanese technology giant with other vendors and WA Health to deliver and manage IT services at the state's hospitals and health services.

These services catered to the health needs of some 2.3 million Western Australians and employed 37,000 staff.

Fujitsu said the contract saw it provide services for “high availability, scalable infrastructure, sustainable data centre growth and ICT continuity”, to be supported by its Perth data centre.

“Built with sustainability as a key building block, this facility will accommodate WA Health’s initial requirements as well as accommodate plans for future expansion,” said Fujitsu managed services director Tim White.

He said WA Health was a key client for the company’s growing managed services business in the state, which spanned end-user computing, remote infrastructure, network, IT service management and data centres.
