Wacom channels user experience potential

Wacom, a components and display manufacturer distributed by Ingram Micro, has taken the wraps off a new original equipment manufacturing solutions brand ‘Feel'.

The brand was aimed at marketing "more genuinely natural and intuitive user experiences for PCs, e-books and other technology devices" among its OEM customers.

Wacom's OEM channel, which includes some of the world's largest PC and handheld manufacturers use its multi-touch and pen sensor technologies in a range of tablet PCs and other devices.

These sensors are used to detect the movements of Wacom's cordless, battery-free, pressure-sensitive pen technology.

In a statement, Wacom said the "Feel" brand "focuses on how technology makes users feel about themselves and the tools they are using."

"It illustrates the company's transition from market leader in specialist pen technology to a leading user interface organisation who understands how people feel about technology."

Solutions marketed under the 'feel' brand would integrate multiple technology types "including multi-touch and pen functionalities," the company said.

But it said that "the first Wacom Feel IT Technology will be the G5 sensor system" - which is already used in a number of tablet-style devices.
