Telstra apologises for omitting partner

Telstra has issued an apology to HubOne for omitting the cloud integrator's details from its announcement of a Microsoft Exchange Online deal with the operator of realestate.com.au.

On Thursday, Telstra announced that the operator of realestate.com.au, ASX-listed REA Group, had deployed Microsoft Exchange Online with 750 seats through Telstra's software-as-a-service (SaaS) portal, T-Suite.

But HubOne managing director Nick Beaugeard told CRN Friday that the customer had been his since January.

"Telstra bills them," Beaugeard said. "They pulled the partner from the press release. I told Microsoft and Telstra and asked them if they were doing it on purpose?

Beaugeard said Telstra was changing its policy to ensure partners were included in all of their future press releases.

"Telstra are being advised to make an apology, and they will. It turned out because they had another business unit where they don't mention partners as one of their rules had flowed through to this one.

"It's just one of those silly mistakes, but what's kind of cool is that Telstra fixed it all in one day.

Marcus Bartram, director of Marketing at Telstra Business, said the omission was an "oversight".

"HubOne got left out, which is unfortunate. We're doing some other things to adjust for it. We're actually putting in place a program so that for our preferred partners like HubOne they're included in all the announcements because they are a critical part of our proposition to market," he said.

Bartram said Telstra was involved in the sales process. We're also involved in the ongoing support process.

"Nick is the lead for the deployment and we are all at the table together with the customers.

"REA is an important case study so as we work with them and do more public relations HubOne will be included in the mix," he said.
