TechnologyOne achieves high-level Australian Signals Directorate security certification

Brisbane-headquartered TechnologyOne is the first Australian software vendor to be certified by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

The ASD, which is part of the Department of Defence focused on signals intelligence and cyber-security, is responsible for awarding certifications to cloud service providers for specific services.

AWS, IBM, Microsoft, Macquarie Telecom, Salesforce, Sliced Tech and Vault Systems are all in the ASD certified cloud services list (CCSL) with different levels of certifications for different services.

TechOne is the first Australian software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider to receive unclassified dissemination limiting marker (DLM) level of certification. The only other certified SaaS company is Salesforce.

The unclassified DLM covers information such 'official use only' and sensitive (personal). Australian government agencies applying the information security manual must only use outsourced cloud services listed in the ASD CCSL.

Executive chairman Adrian Di Marco said: "This endorses TechnologyOne as the safest and most trusted provider of enterprise SaaS in the world.

"In the wake of the recent malware attacks across Europe, and with Australia’s investment in cloud solutions is set to approach $800 million by 2019 [according to Telsyte study], it has never been more important to verify the highest level of security for software provided and managed from the cloud.

"Businesses and governments must demand that their cloud software providers demonstrate the highest levels of security and data protection, to ensure business continuity," Di Marco said.

Di Marco added that the premise behind cloud technology should be "automatic, highly secure and fail safe".

"There’s no excuse for omitting these measures in today’s cloud environment or taking short cuts,” Di Marco added.
