Peripherals and security monitoring outfit Swann Communications appointed QLD-based XPress IT as its latest distributor.
Swann had been without a distributor in Queensland since the demise of BCN Technology in early August.
Darren Cassidy, Swann’s QLD accounts manager said unlike BCN, which was operating a branch office out of QLD, XPress is a local QLD business and has a strong base of resellers in the state.
XPress IT also deals with resellers throughout the Pacific Island nations, said Cassidy, which opens up a new area for Swann.
“This makes them a great fit with our global approach and regional growth strategy,” Cassidy said in a statement.
The company was also looking to add a new distributor in New South Wales and one in Victoria, said Cassidy.
“They [NSW and Victoria] are the two biggest markets. We feel that we need at least two distributors in those areas,” he said.
Swann sells through HiTech Distribution in Victoria and South Australia, Leader Computers in South Australia, Infront Technologies in NSW and RTV in Western Australia.
Cassidy said although the company was on a distribution recruitment drive, it would limit distributor numbers to ensure profitability.
Swann markets a range of DIY CCTV security products that Cassidy claimed gives channel partners the chance to earn margins of between 15 and 20 percent.
“There’s not much competition in terms of DIY retail security products so there’s a bit of margin at the moment.”
XPress IT were not available for comment at press time.
