Australian auditing software and service provider Smartpath has signed Centennial Software to produce asset tracking applications that let businesses more efficiently monitor their IT infrastructure.
UK-based Centennial Software said the companies had partnered to provide organisations with a “360 degree” view of their physical and digital assets. Smartpath had integrated Centennial’s Discovery software into its Loc8 asset tracking product.
“The integrated solution provides potential customers with an alternative to the traditionally complex, high priced and often cost-prohibitive asset management tools,” Centennial Software said.
Many public companies had to audit their assets annually and stood to gain from access to a single outsourced service. Also, private companies could use such products to identify redundant licensing, piracy, excess equipment or ensure audit compliance, the vendor said.
David Hodges, managing director at Smartpath, said the partnership with Centennial Software would help produce a range of software and hardware tools for auditing, tracking and management.
“Using our integrated Loc8 asset application, our professional services teams are providing technology-driven hardware/software audit, compliance and data collection services,” Hodges said.
Phil Hare, regional director at Centennial Software, said control of software assets was becoming more important.
“Whether it’s to avoid fines for non-compliance, overspending on equipment or badly negotiated support deals, not having 100 percent asset visibility can have a dramatic impact on the bottom line,” Hare said.
