Service NSW looks for new integrated development environment software

Service NSW (SNSW) has launched a procurement process for Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software for both its Digital Services part of the business and Revenue NSW.

Service NSW has been utilising a software package as its primary integrated development environment (IDE) for several years.

The software package is used in Service NSW Digital software development teams to enable the creation of websites, apps and other software, and has proven to be an effective tool, providing features such as code analysis, debugging, version control integration, and support for multiple programming languages.

The new IDE software should enhance productivity by offering robust tools for code development across multiple programming languages; real-time code analysis, refactoring, and error detection to improve code quality; and debugging and testing features, including integration with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines.

The IDE should also offer dependency management and plugin integration, ensuring all third-party components meet security and compliance standards, as well as automated reporting on license usage, security vulnerabilities, and project performance to ensure compliance with public sector policies.

The product must include built-in tools for code analysis, automated refactoring, testing, and performance profiling (analysis of runtime data) to ensure high-quality code development., as well as allow for usage reporting that includes detailed metrics on the number of licenses used.

The solution is to be implemented by the 12th of September 2025 with a contract term of three years, with two one-year options to extend at SNSW and Revenue NSW 's discretion.
