Sage aims revamped ERP 1000 at mid-market

Sage has updated its ERP 1000 web-based software designed to customise reporting and provide integrated business intelligence capabilities.

Version 3.0 includes a revamped user interface designed to make it easy for new customers to get to grips with the software, according to Stuart Lynn, head of research and development for the mid-market division at Sage.

"The really simple interface will make it intuitive and will require minimal training to reduce costs," Lynn said.

"The system creates an actionable list to tell users what needs to be done. It's a new twist on workflow patterns that will save time and increase productivity."

Sage has also integrated a reporting engine, meaning that businesses no longer have to use a third-party engine and can customise reports.

"Another major addition is the added integration and interoperability. We have gone for an open API to allow anyone to integrate anything," said Lynn.

"Previous versions were heavily integrated with our Sage CRM product, but now users can choose to integrate Sage SalesLogix."

The software is run through a web interface to minimise hardware and administrative costs, the firm said.

Sage ERP 1000 features backwards compatibility, meaning that there is no need to redevelop customised forms, and customers' investments in previous products are protected.

Pricing varies, but customers with an existing annual licence will get the upgrade for free.
