Retriever Communications courts A/NZ partners

Mobility solutions provider Retriever Communications has announced fresh expansion plans that will see the company take on new channel partners in Australia and New Zealand.

Software integrators, developers and resellers with clients in key industry verticals are being sought as part of the new plans.

“We’re actively looking for channel partners with mobile development expertise and those seeking to add mobility offerings to their capabilities,” Mary Brittain-White, founder and CEO of Retriever Communications told CRN.

Brittain-White said the company was particularly interested in the mobile field requirements driven by the mining and energy markets, which would provide partners with significant opportunities in areas such mobile data collection, OH&S and asset condition inspections.

"We have tried a number of models over the years and based on our experience we found the most complementary partners have an SI capability. These partners will mainly have the expertise to a particular market, by example implementation services to SAP EAM customers in a specific region," she said.

Retriever Communications is a mobile field force automation solutions provider that specialises in field service management tools, dispatch and schedule services, mobile time sheets and field asset management products.

The flagship product in Retriever Communications' mobility portfolio is RADE3 (Retriever Application Development Environment); a multi-OS app creation tool that allows businesses to build and deploy native applications to iOS, Android and Windows Mobile. It achieves this by introducing an abstraction layer above the specific operating system and contains all the features required to build a mobile application.

As part of its expansion strategy for ANZ, Retriever sees particular potential in regional representation with a particular focus on Western Australia, North Queensland and South Australia.

"In these regional markets, we are looking to partner with companies that have achieved market trust and relationships that we cannot reproduce in the short to mid-term," Brittain-White said.

"We prefer to understand this dynamic rather than fight it, and hope to find partners with strong local knowledge and connections."

Partner program

Retriever Communications has also launched a partner program that provides full cross training in mobile application deployment and Retriever’s project methodology.

"Our plans are focused on up-skilling our partners to be successful in mobile projects," Brittain-White said. "So to this end, we have been running training courses directed specifically to the implementation development and design skill sets.

"It is worthy to note that the market is littered with failed mobility projects, and to date, we have an enviable track record of zero failed deployments. It is this experience we need to transfer to our channel to de-risk their expansion into mobility."
