Austeq, a new Australian distributor selling a unique integrated storage and security appliance dubbed ‘Yellow Machine’ is on the hunt for channel partners.
The appliance -– targeted at SMBs -– integrates 1.6TB of storage, NAS/RAID, an eight port router, switch, and a WAN port internet gateway with commercial class firewall.
After a 12-month sabbatical, former AMD Australia and New Zealand country manager John Robinson has undertaken the role of chief executive officer at the company.
The Yellow Machine was developed by US-based Anthology Solutions and is manufactured in Korea.
It runs a Linux operating system and is supported by optional applications including Webdisk, digital video recording, web camera surveillance, Watermark call centre recording, video-on-demand and document archival systems. A H.264/MPEG4 set top box running firmware developed by Korean company Airmis was also available to plug into the unit.
Speaking to CRN, Robinson believed the terabyte storage unit was unique as it as integrated an internet gateway with firewall. “There are terabyte storage appliances on the market that don’t have those kinds of features,” he said.
The machine was perfect for an SMB in a vertical market like legal, real estate, medical or hospitality.
Robinson was in the process of signing some more distributors here to take the product to the reseller channel.
Robinson said Austeq wanted a combination of distributors and resellers selling the product and the company also intended to align with “vertical market partners” that were focusing on areas such as IP survelliance. He planned to offer more storage-related products in the future.
