Communication vendor RAD Data Communication sees big potential for its resellers in vertical markets, with the acquisition of its distributor Proactive Communications Solutions by United Group Limited.
ASX-listed UGL purchased PCS on the 19 February for an undisclosed sum. PCS business has become part of UGL’s Infrastructure business and will augment its Communications Line of Business (formerly known as Comsyst).
Udi Furman managing director of Rad said the purchase has opened up a whole new channel for its existing partners and any potential VAR.
“UGL have investments in infrastructure, rail, resources and services. We are looking to helping existing partners and any potential reseller partners, take advantage of the opportunities in those areas,” said Furman.
Furman said the company was unique in the telecommunications hardware space because it targeted the access, rather backbone or edge side of the networking market. It offers DSL, fibre and wireless-based solutions.
“The changes within the technology industry have opened up new verticals. Areas of resource like mining are booming. There’s always a new site and when a new mine opens up there’s a need for a communication network,” said Furman.
In Australia RAD has three distributors including PCS, Paclink and TR Telecom, said Furman.
“We are happy with channel and we want to increase sales through the channel and are investing a lot in educating the market,” he said.
