Paul Oxley amicably parts from Avnet
Oxley was with ChannelWorx for three years and helped guide the acquisition of ChannelWorx by Avnet in November 2007.

In an exclusive interview with CRN Oxley said he decided to resign from his position as ChannelWorx boss because Avnet already has a strong management team.

“Avnet created a business unit executive position for its ChannelWorx division. This was more of a sales aspect rather than general management, which is where my strengths lie,” he said “Avnet already has a very strong management team.”

According to Oxley, he is currently looking at a few options that have become available in the IT industry.

“Previously I worked in IT distribution in the UK, where I am from, as well as Germany and I have been involved in IT for 15 years, so I don’t want to leave the industry,” said Oxley.

He first joined ChannelWorx three years ago, when he arrived in Australia after marrying his Aussie wife. Oxley claimed the acquisition of ChannelWorx by Avnet will see little change to account management structure for ChannelWorx’s resellers.

“The only thing that will change for resellers will be the expansion of technology they will be able to access. Avnet has a wide range of product ChannelWorx resellers will also be able to sell. Some ChannelWorx account managers will also take on Avnet accounts, otherwise its continuity for our customers” he said.

Avnet recently announced Shane Taylor will head up its Networking and Security division formally known as ChannelWorx as the business unit executive. In his previous role at IPL, Taylor drove the definition and execution of their Voice systems and VOIP strategy.
