Nuance looking for resellers
The company wants to break into the education market and as an incentive is offering a discount for teachers to buy the software if they complete an online training module.

According to Peter Mahoney, vice president of Nuance, the company is interested in finding resellers for the education, medical, and legal professions.

Speaking about Dragon version 10, Mahoney said it has made the software 90 percent accurate and increased the speed at which text can appear on screen.

He claims the application is easier to edit with a new Web search technology built into the program.

“Existing users want more accuracy and speed helps them to get through their work faster. We are continuing to adapt the program. We have hundreds of Australian resellers that buy through Scholastic Australia, but we are always looking for more,” said Mahoney.

“It’s an area where there is so much opportunity and we still need to do a lot more to tap into our market sector. We have just launched an e-learning module for teachers so that they can integrate the software into their curriculum,” he added.

Nuance recently signed Scholastic Australia to distribute the professional version of its software.

Dragon Naturally Speaking allows people to create documents and emails and to navigate their PCs through speech.
