Marshal8e6 pushes security portfolio into the education market

As a result of Marshal's merger with 8e6 Technologies last year, the company has a new productrange in the education market with a security portfolio to protect students and staff from inappropriate email, Web and IM use

"We have always had an exposure to the education market globally and in Australia and New Zealand however, with the merger it brought another strong component to the education market, said Jeremy Hulse, VP APAC of Marshal8e6.

"The product itself provides protection and certain features that are very specific and suitable monitoring the types of sites, information or applications that people are trying to access.

"Our ability to protect the internet gateway and content, not just looking at Websites, but the ability to monitor the types of content, gives resellers an opportunity to go to a school with the confidence the products have been proven and tested and that they can deliver a solid solution," he added.

The move comes as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) last week announced the roll-out of its national Cybersafety program designed for primary and secondary level educators.

"It's important that we protect children online, from unsuitable content, other malicious internet users, and increasingly cyber bullying," said Hulse.

"The latter point isn't just a problem for children either; there is a responsibility to protect teachers from receiving inappropriate emails from their students too.

"All this points to a good opportunity for Marshal8e6 to help Australian schools and universities get safe online," he added.
