Strong software sales have lifted ASX- listed distributor itX to achieve a 25 percent rise in profits for first six months of FY10.
itX has reported that profits after tax for the six months ending 31 December totalled $3.55 million, up from $2.82 million the previous year.
Revenue increased by 21 percent from $67.5 million in the December 2008 to $81.6 million in December 2009.
Laurie Sellers, managing director of itX said in a statement to the ASX that the figure is "a record high for the first half of the year.
"It is a great result especially considering the tough economic environment at the start of this financial year," said Sellers.
"The revenue increase of 21 percent was very pleasing and much of the success in the distribution business was due to ongoing demand for software which remained relatively buoyant."
Sellers said virtualisation was particularly strong as was Sun hardware.
Major suppliers including VMware, IBM, Citrix, Oracle, Vizioncore and Datacore all performed extremely well and helping to deliver a strong overall growth in software sales.
