Ingram Micro is expanding its Melbourne distribution business with a move to new larger premises in the city's central suburb of Abbotsford.
Having outgrown its North Melbourne premises, Ingram Micro's new office will feature a purpose built Partner Technology Centre for the distributor's Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian partners.
Jay Miley, Ingram Micro's VP and managing director for Australia and New Zealand, said the distributor has run out of space in the old premises and cited Victoria as a growth region for Ingram Micro.
"With this new office and the facilities it offers we'll be able to better support our Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian partners to help them grow their businesses and those of their customers," he said.
The purpose-built Partner Technology Centre simulates a real-world data centre.
"The Partner Technology Centre in Sydney has been a huge success with our NSW-based partners, and it has become a vital tool for us to help them demonstrate to their customers how they can reduce costs and complexity through solutions from leading vendors. We're very pleased to be able to offer this unique service in our Victorian premises too," said Miley.
Ingram said the centre is supported by Ingram Micro's team of solutions architects and pre-sales support engineers who "can provide deep technical expertise across a wide range of enterprise-focused products".
The Vantex DC/POS Division will be relocating from its old base in North Melbourne. The move will provide additional space for the expected continued growth in the Vantex business. All sales and telephone contacts will remain the same for Vantex customers.
In addition to the PTC, the new offices also feature new training facilities for partner education and training.
Frank Tenaglia, regional sales manager in Melbourne, will continue to head the premises which has 80 staff.
Ingram said the new premises has a four Green Star rating. Ingram Micro will relocate this weekend.
